Мне Пять Тысяч Лет
I’m Five Thousand Years
The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan
I had the privilege of directing an immersive performance “I’m Five Thousand Years” at The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Concept:
I wanted to create a mystical performance where the portrait of a woman is painted through her own feminine power, through her own gestures, and through her own melody. Where the audience could be intimately immersed in the grandiose space of The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, but at the same time feel voices and the movement on their own skin. The space — The Museum — where time itself seems to be preserved, was a great host for our artwork and was transformed into a symbol of change where time could be alive, could be moved. The woman in “I’m Five Thousand Years” has many faces and many voices. She had multiple incarnations and soaked the pain of her sister through those incarnations, she was reborn again and again – to find the fire within and the strength to hold this universe in her own gentle hands. To my sisters around the world in Kazakhstan, in Iran, in Afghanistan – in every corner of the world — we see how brave you are in fighting for justice, for your freedom, for your future. May we all expand into better governance and communities all around the world. We have each other. Full circle. In Kazakhstan each year 400 women die from domestic abuse. “I’m Five Thousand Years” is dedicated to the victims.
